Chairing the online meeting between the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and 63 provinces and cities Saturday, Mr. Dam said wearing a mask is the simplest but most effective preventive measure. Other measures include quick detection, traceability, early isolation, and social distancing to contain the disease.
The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control warned the biggest risk of infection is from immigrants. Provinces should be responsible for monitoring the health of immigrants for 14 days and maintaining 14-day quarantine, the Committee said.
Acting Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that over the past month, Vietnam has not recorded new cases in the community, but there remained imported cases. He said, “Over the past 30 days, Vietnam has had no cases of community infection. However, the risk remains because of illegal entry that localities should pay special attention to. The pathogen has existed in the community. The danger of an outbreak may happen in any locality.”
