(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged for more practical measures to develop the economy, reduce poverty, organize vocational courses, and generate jobs in the northwestern mountain districts.
Puc, Head of the Steering Board of the Northwestern region, told the leaders from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs and other relevant agencies at a meeting on Thursday to enhance cooperation with the Board to obtain these goals.
Mr. Phuc said:
"Reducing poverty is the responsibility of the locality. Every commune and district has to assess why they remain poor. The labor, war invalids, and social affairs sector must work harder in mountain communes and districts to narrow the income gap and improve living standards. The Labor Ministry will work with relevant agencies and the Steering Board of the Northwestern region to review policies in order to avoid overlap in policies and implementation."
The Northwestern region has an important position in the national economy, security, and defense. The region has suffered from low economic growth, inadequate economic development planning, and undeveloped human resources.
