Vu Ho, Director of the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Secretary General of the ASEAN 2020 National Committee, said ASEAN is always one of the top priorities in Vietnam’s diplomatic policies.

He said: "It's time for ASEAN to look forward after 25 years of Vietnam's participation in ASEAN. It's time for Vietnam to look at all the mechanisms that ASEAN has set up and to make sure that all those mechanisms are complementary, not to replace each other, and compliment to ASEAN building process."

The conference discussed measures to promote ASEAN’s central role and its importance in conveying a sense of unity amidst global developments, and the establishment of priorities during Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship, together with the support of partners for Vietnam during its tenure.
