External information is a very important task in the foreign affairs and ideological work of the Party and State.

The event gathered more than 300 representatives from several ministries, departments, sectors, and leaders of the steering committees for external information work of 63 provinces and cities including the border guard command of border provinces.

Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, said that the workshop focused on finding good models and solutions to promote Vietnam’s national image, research and build a national image promotion strategy, while ensuring unity in the right direction and implementation at all levels.

“The event aims to provide practical information for ministries, sectors and localities in the management and implementation of external information activities in the coming time to improve the quality and effectiveness of the work in the new situation,” said Lam.

Meeting participants said that external information is a very important task. It helps international friends access the current situations in Vietnam accurately, understand the Vietnamese nation and people.

The workshop updated the current global and regional situation and Vietnam’s external policy, Party external information work, and the communications experience of foreign media.

Also high on the agenda of the event were the building of local brands in the overall development of national brands, application of digital technology to communications, and promotion of the role and effectiveness of digital media in spreading a positive image of Vietnam’s provinces, cities and the nation.
