An exhibition opened at Kim Ngan Temple on Hang Bac Street on Wednesday to introduce “Do” (poonah) paper, crafting tools, and products made on “Do” paper from the old days. Vietnamese people began making “Do” paper a long time ago which was used to write books, paint traditional pictures, and confer feudal titles. Though thin, “Do” paper is so durable that it is often found untorn even after hundreds of years. The exhibition will include a talk next Saturday with “Do” paper makers from Bac Ninh province and Hanoi, craftsmen of Hang Trong painting, and researchers of culture and history.

During the holiday (from April 27 to May 1), Phung Hung mural street will be the venue for displaying products of Hanoi’s famous traditional handicraft villages, including Van Phuc silk, Bat Trang ceramic, Ha Thai lacquer, and Chang Son paper fans. A fashion show will take place there featuring spring/summer collections of designers from Hanoi.

From April 28 to May 9, the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center at 50 Dao Duy Tu street will host an exhibition of paintings by Nguyen Quoc Thai about war and peace.
