Hoang Xuan Vinh - Vietnam’s No 1 athlete in 2016
(VOVworld)- Shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh, who won a gold medal in the 10m-pistol event and a silver medal in the 50m pistol event at the 2016 Olympics, has been selected as Vietnam’s best athlete 2016.
On Friday, some 200 sport journalists voted Vietnam’s best athlete in 2016. Swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien and tennis player Ly Hoang Nam came 2
nd and 3
rd. Shooting coach Nguyen Thi Nhung was among the 5 most outstanding coaches of 2016. Weightlifter Le Van Cong who won the first-ever Paralympics gold medal for Vietnam at the Paralympics 2016 in Brazil was chosen as the best athlete with a disability. Weightlifting coach Nguyen Hong Phuc topped the list of the 3 most outstanding coaches for athletes with disabilities. Hoang Du is Editor in Chief of the Vietnam Sports newspaper:

The selection of Vietnam’s most outstanding athletes and coaches in 2016 was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Sports Newspaper, the Vietnam Olympic Committee and other relevant agencies.
