(VOVWORLD) - 69 best works were honored at the National External Information Service Awards 2016 ceremony at VOV Headquarters in Hanoi on Wednesday.

Among attendees were President Tran Dai Quang, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commision Vo Van Thuong and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam. This is the third time the awards have been organized by the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission and the Central Steering Committee for External Information Service. The entries’ formats include: print newspaper, online newspaper, radio broadcasting, television broadcasting, landscape photos and books. The entries were created in 17 languages: Vietnamese, English, French, German, Russian, Slovakian, Spanish, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Polish, Chinese, Japanese, Lao, Thai, Indonesian, Korean and Persian. Authors include Vietnamese and foreign journalists, experts, researchers, photographers, publishers, and Vietnamese expatriates.
Their topics cover all aspects of the country’s political, economic, cultural and social life, promoting the image of Vietnam to the outside world. The entries inform of the Vietnamese Party guidelines and State policies, the great achievements Vietnam made in the “Doi moi” (Reform) process, Vietnam’s viewpoint on regional and international issues, and objection to the incorrect and distorted allegations on Vietnam.
At the award ceremony, Vo Van Thuong, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission and the Central Steering Committee for External Information Service, stressed the important role of the external information service: “Efforts should be made to improve the service's operation to fulfill its tasks entrusted by the Party and State, contributing to maintaining peace, and stability, and promoting international integration for national development. The service needs to be renovated in terms of content and formats”.
Of VOV’s total 7 award winners, “Story of Vietnam’s international integration” by the Voice of Vietnam World Service (VOV5) won the first prize .
