(VOVworld) – New year celebrations were celebrated across Vietnam.

In Hanoi various activities were held at the center city including an artistic countdown program. Tran Thanh Mai, a lecturer at Viglacera vocational college, said: “Performances to welcome the new year have been more entertaining than in previous years. The weather was cold but the artists were very enthusiastic.”

In Da Nang city, performances held at Bien Dong park attracted a great number of people. Da Nang held a fireworks display on the sea for the first time to welcome the new year. Le Van Dung, a local resident, said: “Da Nang recorded impressive growth in 2015. I hope that the city will achieve more in 2016 and local per capita income will be higher.”

Cultural activities and performances were held along Tran Phu street in Nha Trang city. The youth union of Thua Thien Hue province held a youth gala involving more than 7,000 people. Ho Chi Minh city held fireworks displays in district 2 and district 11. Le Thuy Nga of Hung Vuong University said: “I come here every year to watch the fireworks display and performances. On New Year’s Eve I wish everyone lots of luck.”
