(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Hau Giang province on Friday to celebrate the recognition of Nga Bay town as a 3^rd class urban area. President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh attended the event.

Mr. Nhan said: “I hope that the Party committee, administration, and people of Hau Giang and Nga Bay will continue to enhance the strength of the political system and people to make Nga Bay more developed. Nga Bay urban area should develop toward modernization while preserving its cultural traditions.”

The recognition of Nga Bay as an urban area will boost the pace of urbanization in the southwestern region as part of Vietnam’s strategy to develop a network of urban areas until 2025 with a vision to 2050.
