(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Friday held a direct dialogue with delegates to the Youth Union's 10th National Congress in Hanoi. Hundreds of questions came in about urgent issues facing youth such as employment, vocational training, their involvement in new rural development, and mobilization of young overseas Vietnamese to contribute to national construction. Answering questions about the enrolment and training of young human resources, Mr. Dung called that Youth Union members a reliable reserve force of the Party ‘The Party and government always give prominence to the role of young people, considering them the revolution’s vanguard. Youth work is vital to the nation. The Party and government have promulgated many preferential policies and incentives on training a qualified youth generation. But in recent years, Vietnam has faced a lot of challenges and restrictions. All of us need to combine our efforts to turn Vietnam into an industrialized nation by 2020. The government will continue to support youth development and the activities of the Youth Union so that the young generation will be a reliable reserve for the Party. The Government is always ready to hold dialogues about your concerns.’

Prime Minister Dung also talked about a policy to attract young overseas Vietnamese to work for Vietnam. He said ‘Vietnam is hungry for young, qualified personnel. The Party and government have not only improved education and training for young people at home but also mobilized young Vietnamese living and studying abroad. Four million Vietnamese are living abroad, 100,000 of them are students. The Party and State have adopted policies to encourage these people to serve their homeland. We’ll review existing policies and make necessary revisions in the hope that every Vietnamese citizen around the globe will share the burdens of their country.’

The Prime Minister and delegates to the Youth Union's 10^th National Congress has concluded their dialogue. Over the past 4 days, the Congress discussed and approved some key documents, including the report of the 9^th Youth Union’s Central Committee to the 10^th National Congress, a review of the Youth Union’s Central Committee in the period 2007-2012, and the revised Union regulations. The Congress announced its 151-member Central Committee, its 33-member Standing Committee, and the 7-member Secretariat of the Central Committee. Nguyen Dac Vinh was re-elected First Secretary of Central Committee. At the closing session, Vinh called on government agencies and mass organizations to help young people contribute actively to national development. The Congress passed a resolution on cooperation and exchanges to educate the younger generation in the interest of political quality, morality, and Party leadership among young people. The resolution will take effect in February, 2013.
