Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc addresses the meeting

(VOVoworld) - The Government Committee for Religious Affairs on Tuesday hosted a conference to review last year’s performance and discuss the implementation of the tasks set for this year. The conference reviewed the past five years of the Prime Minister’s instructions regarding Protestant Christian activities and housing and land related to religious affairs. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that religious activities in the country last year were held orderly without any hotspot, thanks to the great efforts of State agencies involved. He added that the Party and State of Vietnam create favorable conditions for all people to follow their religions in accordance with the law. Mr. Phuc said it is essential to create favorable conditions for Protestants to practice their religion in the northern mountainous areas and the Central Highlands, while  fighting against hostile forces that abuse Protestantism to divide the people and religions and call for the establishment of a separate H’Mong State in the northern mountains and a Dega State in the Central Highlands. Deputy PM Phuc said: “We should take into consideration of the people’s religions and beliefs while mapping out socio-economic plans. It’s impossible to move churches or temples to the mountains. The people should be created with favorable conditions to practice their religions.”
