Delivering a speech at the ongoing National Party Congress on Thursday, Minister Tuan Anh said after 35 years of national renewal, Vietnam has had huge success in national industrialization and modernization, becoming a low-middle income nation which is rapidly integrating into the region and the world.
“The achievements in the renewal process have created a firm foundation for the national economy with the industrial sector continuing to play an extremely important role, driving socio-economic growth, and realizing the national industrialization and modernization goals,” he said.
To date Vietnam has become a country with an industry at a high average level, moving toward the group of 4 countries with the strongest competitiveness in ASEAN.
The development of major economic groups in industries, materials, and mechanical engineering have laid a foundation for Vietnam’s auxiliary industry, helping it participate in global production and value chains.
According to Minister Tuan Anh, the current global situation poses great challenges for Vietnam but also offers opportunities to narrow the development gap.
To take advantage of the opportunity, Mr. Tuan Anh underscored the need “to strictly follow the viewpoint: external resources are important but internal resources play a decisive role.”
He said, “Participating more deeply in the global production network and value chains and at the same time enhancing Vietnam’s independence and autonomy to develop the national economy are a requirement for Vietnam to overcome challenges.”
He insisted that industry and trade sectors will continue to do the utmost to implement the goals set by the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
