Symposium held to mark 70th World Human Rights Day

(VOVWORLD) - A symposium marking the 70th World Human Rights Day was held in Hoa Binh province on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, General Director of the Institute of Human Rights under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Tuong Duy Kien said that after more than 30 years of renewal, Vietnam has made various efforts and gained internationally recognized in protecting and promoting human rights.

Vietnam has paid attention to completing the law system related to human rights, taken international recommendations through the United Nations mechanisms such as the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and the Periodic Reporting of conventions to which Vietnam is a member.

Vietnam will continue its endeavour to help people better enjoy human rights and benefit from achievements of the national development. It will also remain an active and responsible member of UN offices, including the UN Human Rights Council and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
