The report captures youth voices across Vietnam and share their common vision with policymakers so that they can receive adequate support and increase their contributions to climate action.
Speaking at the event, Caitlin Wiesen, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam highlighted the significant contribution by young Vietnamese to cope with climate change at both national and international level. The report outlines the challenges faced by youth in undertaking climate action, such as limited access to technology and finance and a lack of cooperation with stakeholders, and highlights the accelerators that hold the promise of unblocking these bottlenecks. In this Special Report, youth have also committed to implementing their roadmap to accelerate youth-led climate actions from 2021 to 2025 in Vietnam.
President for COP 26 Alok Sharma expressed his delight to attend the dialogue with Vietnamese youth, adding that Vietnamese young people’s voice is very important as they are the future of Vietnam. He called on nations, including Vietnam, to join hands to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change.
