Delegates said this year the Vietnamese economy is affected by the slow recovery of the global economy, global trade uncertainty, the slow and unsustainable agricultural growth, and the ineffective agricultural production.

To improve the local investment and business environment, the conference suggested the government reform the national administration, institutionalize the power delegation in each area of state management. Vietnam should promulgate more policies to boost supportive industry and create a more favorable climate for start-up businesses.

Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee Dinh La Thang said: “The city will focus on identifying a strategic vision, creating a driving force and capacity, and mobilizing potential resources which the city hasn’t fully tapped. The city should be more courageous to create breakthroughs for development.”

Mr Thang said Ho Chi Minh City attaches importance to improving the investment and trading environment, boosting the start-up spirit, and helping the establishment and development of businesses towards having 500,000 operating enterprises by 2020.
