Vietnam gears up preparation against new coronavirus
(VOVWORLD) - Given the outbreak of a new coronavirus from China, Vietnam has not reported any infection cases but faces major threat due to a large number of tourists and immigrant workers crossing airports.
The Ministry of Health on Wednesday issued a directive to strengthen supervision to prevent the new flu strain, especially in border gates. Ho Chi Minh City’s Health Department issued an urgent dispatch to strengthen vigilance. Dr Nguyen Thanh Truong from the city’s Tropical Diseases Hospital said staff has cooperated with Oxford University to prepare for necessary testing facilities. “We have all medical equipment in place and stand-by medical staffs on a 24 hour basis. A steering committee to cope with the disease has been set up to deal with any suspected cases,” said Dr. Truong.
