Vietnam is a bright star in Asia: international media
(VOVWORLD) - International media have praised Vietnam’s policy for external diplomacy and its economic achievements on the occasion of Vietnam’s 75th anniversary of August Revolution on August 19 and National Day on September 2.
The Jerusalem Post published an article titled “Vietnam: A bright star in Asia”, saying the year 2020 plays an important role in Vietnam’s foreign activities, particularly in its multilateral foreign policy. Being the ASEAN Chairman and Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council in 2020-2021 term, Vietnam is working to enhance ASEAN's central role in regional structure and further strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and the UN. Thanks to its fast and effective response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam’s prospects for recovery remain positive and are brightest among Asian countries, the article added.
The Forbes magazine in Israel published an article assessing Vietnam growth between January and August this year. It cited Edward Teather, ASEAN economist at UBS Research, as saying Vietnam is suffering some pain from the impact of COVID-19, but the outlook is looking one of the brightest in the region.
Thailand’s Bangkok Post said the COVID-19 recurrence from July 25 in Da Nang has raised concerns that tourism and many other activities could be seriously affected when Vietnam's economy is on the rise. However, Vietnam is in good control after a month of the new outbreak. Vietnam is among the few countries that are forecast to have positive gross domestic product (GDP) growth this year, the article said.
