Vietnam pledges to prioritize gender equality

(VOVWORLD) - The 65thsession of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65) took place virtually Tuesday from UN Headquarters in New York with representatives from 193 UN countries and international organizations.

Vietnamese Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung attended the event for Women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”

Minister Dung reiterated Vietnam’s commitments to prioritizing gender equality, saying the country wishes to receive support from the UN and other members to overcome current difficulties.

By September 2020, the ratio of female National Assembly deputies was 27.3%, higher than the global average. Violence against women and children has reduced. 100% of human trafficking victims returning home have received social support for reintegration in the community.
