(VOVworld) Various activities are underway nationwide to mark the 10^th Vietnam Poetry Day on Sunday. A large number of poets and writers from many countries and territories, and poetry lovers, gathered at a Gala Night at Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi Temple of Literature) on Saturday night. Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Writers’ Association emphasized the significance of the event: “It is significant that we’ve made the Vietnam Poetry Day a cultural festival for not only poets but also poem lovers. It is encouraging that the number of participating audience, including foreigners keeps rising every year while the activities are becoming more diverse”.

In HCM City, poems written in calligraphic style attracted a great many people. Nguyen Quang Trang, Chairman of the municipal writers association said that the association paid special care to young writers. “Poem has made its own popularity with the participation of about 50 young poets, who we hope will work hard and smart to meet the demands of the public,” Trang said.

Similar activities took place in the central province of Quang Ngai and the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen.
