Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi |
(VOV) - Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi has reiterated the Vietnamese State’s consistent human rights and development policies in an August 3 reply to the US House of Representatives’ adoption of Vietnam Human Rights Act 2013 (H.R 1897). Vietnam boasts internationally recognised human rights achievements across fields spanning politics, economics, culture, and social welfare. Embracing human rights has significantly contributed to the successes of the country’s Doi Moi (Renewal) process, Nghi said. Vietnam and the US have maintained regular dialogues on human rights, promoting bilateral ties using the foundations of frankness, constructive spirit, and mutual respect and understanding. Nghi said the bill’s erroneous and biased depiction of Vietnam’s human rights and religious freedom misinterpret the reality of the situation and hurt the development of Vietnam-US relations.
