(VOVworld) - 200 outstanding young Vietnamese living in 24 foreign countries have returned to their homeland for Vietnam Summer Camp 2013. Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs said this year’s camp, themed “10 years – the call of the Homeland”, marks the 68th anniversary of the August Revolution, the 66th War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, and 10 years of the Vietnam Summer Camp. The camp aims to help young overseas Vietnamese understand the history and culture of their homeland, and strengthen their attachment to their country.
Youngsters on Friday offered incense at the Hung Kings Temple in the northern province of Phu Tho, their first activity at the camp.

Dao Kieu Oanh, a freshman of the America-Romania University in Romania, has returned to Vietnam 2 times with her parents to visit a great many relic sites but this is the first time she has been to the Hung Kings temple. Oanh told VOV: "This is the first time I’ve been to the Hung Kings temple. This is an ancient temple. I offered incense to the Kings. I think this is my homeland".
Ha Le Minh Duong is a 9th grader in Russia. He said:"The temple is very beautiful. When I got here, I expressed my gratitude to the Hung Kings- the founders of Vietnam, and to those who are preserving this relic".
The trip to the Hung Kings temple helped the youngsters understand more about the Vietnamese tradition of “drinking the water, remembering its source” and sparked their national pride.
