(VOVworld) – Vietnam has set a target of sending 105,000 workers abroad this year. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA) said it will work to send workers to major markets including Chinese Taipei, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. The Ministry will implement agreements on labor cooperation with Thailand, Laos, Australia, and Malaysia. Vietnamese nurses will begin to work in Japan and Germany under signed agreements.

The Department of Overseas Labor under the MOLISA will submit to the Prime Minister a plan to send skilled workers abroad during the 2017-2020 period with a vision toward 2025. Pham Viet Huong, the department’s deputy director, said: “Most Vietnamese workers sent abroad are unskilled. We will focus more on training workers for export to countries with high demand for qualified workers. In addition to sending Vietnamese medical personnel to Germany and Japan, we will consider sending engineers to Japan and the Republic of Korea.”

2016 is the third consecutive year that Vietnam has sent more than 100,000 workers overseas, with an increasing number of Vietnamese working in Chinese Taipei, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
