Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General To Lam received US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper in Hanoi on March 4

At the meeting, Minister To Lam proposed the US side soon complete the process of reviewing and recognizing/granting market economy status to Vietnam, strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, and accelerate the signing of the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, the Extradition Agreement, and the Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons. This would contribute to strengthening cooperation in law enforcement between the two sides, said Minister Lam.

Ambassador Marc Knapper affirmed that the US Embassy will continue to coordinate and work closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to substantively and effectively implement cooperation agreements, especially the cooperation issues that have been agreed upon by senior leaders under the framework of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
