In the discussion, speakers said that youth were the lighthouse. They spoke of the General Assembly resolution dedicated to youth engagement, empowerment and education. They also spoke of national initiatives in this sphere, promising to continue championing the youth and disarmament agenda. Youth representatives spoke of major landmarks in youth empowerment and disarmament, hoping that events could take place more frequently so that their voices could be heard more clearly and loudly.
Phung Trang Linh, a student at Hanoi Foreign Trade University, gave a speech on "Youth participation in disarmament." She said young people in the world in general and young people in Vietnam, a country heavily affected by war, are very aware of the value of peace and wish to make a small contribution to protect the future. Hopefully, the effective participation of the youth in the coming time will help build an effective disarmament mechanism, contributing to international peace, security and sustainable development, Linh said.
