Vietnam’s Book Day

(VOVworld) – A book festival was held at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi to mark Vietnam’s Book Day April 21st.

The festival began with an incense offering ceremony to Chu Van An, one of Vietnam’s most prominent teachers. Addressing the function, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai said: “This is the first time that book lovers have had a festival of their own, which is Vietnam’s Book Day. This is an honor for the library sector, which has been encouraging and promoting reading in the community over the years.”

An exhibition featuring Vietnam’s history opened at the National Library. On display is a replica of a book written by King Minh Mang about the royal Nguyen clan. Le Anh Tho is a reader: “The showcase of books about Vietnam’s history on this day is even more meaningful. These books are evidence of Vietnam’s exercise of sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes during the Nguyen dynasty.
