Welcoming Tet on the oil rig
(VOVworld) - Engineers on the oil rigs of Vietnamese continental shelf are on duty despite the lunar new year holiday. Vu Van Cuong, 25, says this is the first Tet away from home and shore. He feels assured and less home sick with gifts and good sentiments from the land: “In my first Tet on the oil rig, I feel a little bit sad but covered by care from colleagues, company and local government and try to work well.”
Some 3,000 oil and gas workers and engineers have to celebrate Tet at sea and away from home, 80% of them are from Vietsovpetro joint venture. Member of the Board of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Vu Khanh Truong, says traditional Tet items such as confectionery, sticky rice cakes and peach flowers have been delivered to the oil rigs for Tet celebration:“We have paid special care for staff on duty far from home. Leaders have paid Tet visits to construction works, retired staff and those families having difficuties.”
