World Meteorology Day marked in Vietnam
(VOVworld)- A meeting to mark World Meteorology Day was held in Vinh City, Nghe An province on Monday.

In his address, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang highlighted Vietnam’s initiatives to cope with climate change including upgrading coastal infrastructures and implementing green house gas emission and community-based climate change adaptation programs. Minister Quang said:
“We need to exert greater efforts to raise people’s awareness and actions toward natural disaster mitigation and climate change adaptation. Local authorities across the country need to raise public and businesses awareness about the importance of meteorological work in coping with natural disaster and climate change”.
A tree planting campaign is launched

To mark the occasion, a tree planting campaign was launched and seminars on meteorological forecasts, disaster risk reduction and the draft Law on Hydro Meteorology were held.
