(VOVWORLD) - Philippine Coast Guard ship BRP Gabriela Silang led by Captain Eleizer Gonzales Ibarientos visited Da Nang city this week.

This was the first-ever visit by a Philippine Coast Guard vessel to Vietnam and also one of great significance as it realizes the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two forces last January.
During the visit, Deputy Commander Rear Admiral Joeven L. Fabul and the leadership of the vessel paid courtesy calls to Da Nang city’s leaders and the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 2 Command.
Officers and soldiers from both countries engaged in a friendly volleyball match and joint drills on coordination and command in search and rescue operations as well as firefighting and explosion prevention at sea.
