Historical images revived with 3D mapping at Reunification Hall

(VOVWORLD) - Fifty years ago, in 1975, Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City, now called Reunification Hall, witnessed a historic moment when the liberation flag was raised over the building’s rooftop. That iconic image marked complete victory and national reunification.

Memories of that triumphant day have been brought back to life through 3D mapping technology to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and National Reunification Day, April 30.

The 3D mapping performance, themed “The South – The Nation’s Bastion”, vividly recreated major battles, soldiers’ letters, the liberation army’s advance toward Independence Palace, and the national flag flying above the Palace. Interwoven with the 3D mapping show, music and dance performances deeply moved the audience.

“This program delivers a powerful message to younger generations, helping them to understand and appreciate the sacrifices of their predecessors who laid down their lives for national liberation and independence,” a viewer said.

Nguyen Khoi Nguyen, a pupil at Dang Tan Tai Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “I’m proud of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and National Reunification Day. It’s a great show and everyone is really enjoying it.”

The 3D mapping show was the highlight of the program “Epic of Peace”, which was broadcast live on Sunday connecting Hanoi, Dak Lak, and Ho Chi Minh City. The program reviewed 21 years of the struggle for national independence of the Vietnamese people and army, leading to the Spring 1975 victory and national reunification.
