(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam affirmed on Tuesday that the Communist Party of Vietnam holds no interests beyond those of the people, emphasizing that the people are the center and subject of all Party guidelines and orientations.

He made the remarks at a meeting in Hanoi with public security officers who once served as reinforcements on the southern battlefield, marking 50 years since national reunification (April 30).
Mr. Lam reiterated that the Party and State will continue to focus on improving people’s lives—especially for ethnic minorities and residents in remote, border, island, and predominantly religious areas.
He said the 14th National Party Congress scheduled for early next year will be an extremely important Congress, marking the start of a new era for the nation—one of prosperity and development, where every citizen enjoys a prosperous and happy life, with support for advancement and wealth creation.
“We will successfully build a strong socialist Vietnam with a wealthy population, and a democratic, equitable, and civilized society—standing shoulder to shoulder with global powers and contributing to peace, stability, development, happiness, and progress worldwide,” said the Party leader.
