Resolution 57: A boost for technology businesses to transform

(VOVWORLD) - Technology businesses play a crucial role in implementing the Party Resolution 57 which defines the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation as the primary breakthrough for socio-economic advancement, paving the way for Vietnam's progress and prosperity in the new era. Technology companies have embraced this initiative, demonstrating their commitment through concrete actions.

Immediately following the issuance of Resolution 57 and the Prime Minister’s Action Program for its implementation, a strong wave of enthusiasm has surged across the Vietnamese technology business community.

Ready for new opportunities

FPT, a leading technology group in Vietnam, has played a pivotal role in supporting the Government's efforts to attract semiconductor investments, fostering cooperation with multinational corporations, and expanding Vietnam’s software exports and digital transformation services globally.

Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of FPT Technology Group, said: "We are eager to participate in the Resolution’s programs. We aim to become a global digital technology corporation with 5 billion USD in foreign revenue by 2030. While we currently have 1,500 students studying semiconductor technology, our goal is to train 10,000 semiconductor engineers and 50,000 AI engineers, and provide AI know-how and skills to approximately 500,000 IT professionals."

Confident that Vietnam can ascend to a leadership position in AI and semiconductor technology, Binh believes that in the coming decades the world will need Vietnam, and Resolution 57, with its policy breakthroughs and institutional reforms, provides the necessary impetus for businesses like FPT to accelerate transformation.

Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Chairman of CMC Corporation, is committed to making Vietnam a regional leader in innovation and building a self-sufficient and sustainable digital economy. CMC has worked out strategies for further growth through initiatives such as the AI transformation strategy (C.OpenAI) and building the region-leading cloud computing infrastructure.

At the 6th National Forum on Vietnam Digital Technology Enterprises last January, Mr. Chinh said: "We will build the largest research & development center for innovation. With Resolution 57, we believe that the legal approvals will be accelerated, enabling swift project implementation."

VNPT Group has committed to mastering GenAI "Make in Vietnam" models across language, image, sound, and data by 2027. Meanwhile, Viettel Group aims to develop advanced 5G devices by 2027 and introduce the first commercially available 6G devices by 2030. This year Viettel will complete the proposal of a project to build a semiconductor chip factory and submit it to the Government, laying the groundwork for Vietnam’s first semiconductor plant by 2030.

For small technology enterprises, Resolution 57 is seen as a game-changer, opening doors to new technologies which will boost the domestic market, establish a strong national tech brand, and enhance Vietnam’s global market presence. A highlight of the resolution is a breakthrough mechanism aimed at developing high-quality technology talent.

Tran Phuc Hong, Deputy General Director of the TMA Technology Company, said: "We hope to see breakthrough policies and solutions to help businesses cut costs and access resources. Vietnam has a strong workforce in IT and digital technology, but there is a shortage of expertise in semiconductors and artificial intelligence."

A launchpad for innovation and global expansion

Amid international integration, Resolution 57 is regarded as a milestone in shifting from reliance on foreign solutions to fostering more homegrown products and innovations. By allocating 2% of GDP to research, development, and digital transformation, the resolution fuels technological advancement across industries, improving both business operations and daily life.

Science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation will play a pivotal role in Vietnam’s goal of becoming a high-income, developed nation by 2045. Strong global enterprises will be crucial. Resolution 57 has strengthened the business community’s sense of responsibility, and inspired it to push the boundaries of scientific and technological development. The Resolution will enable Vietnamese businesses to step confidently into the future alongside the nation.
