FPT announced a 200 million USD investment in AI factory in both Hanoi and Japan late last year. These factories serve as a comprehensive platform for AI and cloud services, offering significant computing power to advance AI capabilities and contribute to the development of Vietnam’s AI sovereignty.

Product Manager of FPT Studio Pham Vu Hung said that AI Factory consists of FPT AI Studio, AI Inference, AI Infrastructure, and AI Agents. The tools can significantly reduce the time and effort required compared to conventional methods. "Instead of having an AI engineer to configure virtual machines, install multiple frameworks, and set up training timelines—a process that could take up to two weeks—users can start their AI projects with FPT AI Studio in just 15 minutes. Our infrastructure is built upon NVIDIA's advanced H100 and H200 GPUs, with the data center located in Vietnam, which is a crucial aspect of our operations. Additionally, we have established a data center in Japan,” said Hung.

FPT’s AI factories aim to make AI accessible to a broader clients by providing inclusive platforms with smart tools and services for building, pre-training, and fine-tuning AI models.

These facilities support the creation and operation of multilingual AI models tailored for specific tasks in customer service, training, and internal operations, thereby enabling businesses to unlock productivity and innovation.

CEO of FPT Smart Cloud Le Hong Viet said: “We develop AI platforms that are accessible to everyone. Users only need to input a few prompts or click to drag-and-drop to start using AI. After more than 11 years of studying AI, FPT has defined our guiding principle that everyone can build their own AI with a slogan ‘Use your own AI’. AI scientists can build models with minimal support from AI engineers. AI creators can develop smart applications without extensive assistance from AI scientists. And business users can create their own AI tools to support their personal tasks.”

Mr. Viet said that powered by the FPT AI Factory and thousands of NVIDIA’s latest-generation GPUs, FPT AI Factory enables businesses to leverage their own data, knowledge, and culture to easily develop specialized AI models. This leads to breakthrough performance with optimized costs, removes infrastructure barriers, and simplifies the AI development and deployment process.

“The benefits of AI Factory and AI Studio, first of all, are economic investment and time efficiency, which help raise growth rate by 9 to 10 times. Our staff will continuously create new base models for the market. We also add new training methods to the system so clients can apply immediately. We also support any special requirements from clients. AI will no longer be a competitive advantage in itself, but a tool to help businesses optimize their strengths and unlock their full potential,” said Viet.   

A key objective of FPT’s AI Factory is to reinforce national AI security and information sovereignty. By developing AI solutions and services tailored to specific national demands, these facilities ensure that AI advancements align with Vietnam’s strategic interests.         

Mr. Hung underlined: “Actually, the entire AI Factory was created to address the issues raised by Decree 13, which is to protect national and personal brands and identities. We need to keep the data within Vietnam and ensure it is processed seamlessly. When FPT launched the AI Factory, the top priority was sovereign AI, meaning everything remains under Vietnam’s control, with all data stored and processed within the country.”

By integrating multimodal AI factory into its AI ecosystem, FPT is not only advancing technological innovation but also ensuring that AI serves the broader goals of accessibility, national security, and sovereignty.
