100 years of Du Ke theater art celebrated in Soc Trang
(VOVWORLD) - A meeting to celebrate 100 years of Du Ke theater art was organized on Friday by the Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang province.
Du Ke is a genre of musical theater created by Khmer people in southern Vietnam in the early 1920s. Mai Chanh Thone, Deputy Head of the Ron Khmer Art Troupe in Soc Trang province said: "I’m very happy to participate in the 100th anniversary of Du Ke theater art. Khmer people have made every effort to preserve and promote heritages handed down from our predecessors."
At the ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented three certificates recognizing Rom Vong dance, Five-Note Musical Performance of the Khmer in Soc Trang, and the Pia pie making craft in Phu Tam commune, Soc Tran province as national intangible cultural heritages.
