(VOVworld)- A ceremony was held on Saturday in Ha Tinh province to mark the 110^th birthday of the late Party leader Ha Huy Tap. Incumbent Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other leaders were among the attendees.

Le Dinh Son, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Ha Tinh province, recalled the life and revolutionary career of the former leader. “35 year-old Ha Huy Tap spent 15 years involving in revolutionary activities, including 2 years in the post of Party General Secretary. He and the Party Central Committee steered the revolution to overcome the difficult periods and move forward steadily. Party leader Tap was a great contributor to the revival, consolidation and development of the Communist Party of Indochina, helping to draw up party directions and policies and laying foundation for the science of Party history”.

Born in April 24^th 1906, patriot Ha Huy Tap later got to know Marxism and Leninism and became a communist. On March 30^th 1940, he was arrested and jailed by the French colonialists in Sai Gon. On August 28^th 1940, he and other revolutionists like Nguyen Van Cu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Phan Dang Luu was executed by shooting.
