(VOVworld) – The US Congress, controlled by the Republican Party convened Tuesday for the opening session of the 115th Congress. The House held inauguration ceremonies for elected and re-elected members and mapped out its future agenda.

They voted 239 to 189 Tuesday to retain congressman Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House for a 2-year term. The same day, President of the Senate Joe Biden conducted a formal swearing-in of 34 Senators.
