(VOVworld) – The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the US Department of Agriculture has authorized another 12 Vietnamese catfish companies to export to the US, increasing the number of approved Vietnamese catfish processors to 57.

Vietnam’s National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department has asked the newly approved firms to check their quality control systems to make sure their export products meet the strict FSIS requirements.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the US is Vietnam’s biggest catfish importer. As of May 15th, the value of Vietnam’s catfish exports to the US was up 7.6 %, to 130 million USD, and could be up 10 to 15 % in the next quarter.
