130,000 tons of rice allocated to pandemic-hit localities

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday decided to allocate more than 130,000 tons of rice from the national food reserve to 24 cities and provinces hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 8.6 million people in the these localities including HCM city, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Phu Yen, and Da Nang need emergency food relief due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Chinh directed that 4,000 tons of rice from the national reserve be delivered to pandemic-hit localities in Binh Phuoc, Bac Lieu, and Soc Trang province.
