13th National Party Congress – new development milestone of Party and Vietnamese nation
(VOVWORLD) - The 13th National Party Congress marks a new milestone for the Party and the Vietnamese nation as it will shape Vietnam’s development and propel international integration, said Nicolas Dervaux, Representative of the Governments of the French-Speaking Community of Belgium and the Wallonie Region in Vietnam.
The Congress will play an important role in defining future trends in East Asia, he noted.
Vietnam, as Chair of ASEAN in 2020, promoted the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea as the basis for sovereign rights in the East Sea (known as the South China Sea internationally). Under Vietnam's chairmanship, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was signed, creating the largest free trade agreement in the world.
The socio-economic achievements Vietnam has obtained in recent years are much appreciated by the Vietnamese people, said Dervaux. All were made under the leadership of the Party, which played a vital role in Vietnam’s past resistance wars and the ongoing “Doi Moi” (Renewal) process.
