(VOVWORLD) - The 17th General Assembly of the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum (EATOF 17) officially kicked off in Ha Long city in the northern province of Quang Ninh on Tuesday.

EATOF Forum has 10 members including Jilin province (China), Cebu (Philippines), Gangwon (Korea), Luang Prabang (Laos), Quang Ninh (Vietnam), Siem Riep (Cambodia), Sarawak (Malaysia), Tottori (Japan), Tuv (Mongolia) and Yogyakarta (Indonesia).
The opening ceremony took place both online and in-person along with the 20th anniversary of the EATOF.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuong Van underlined the crucial role of EATOF in promoting regional tourism development.
“This is the second time, Quang Ninh has hosted the important forum, the first time was in 2010. EATOF has played an important role in promoting tourism in the region, expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation relationships and strengthening solidarity and friendship between EATOF members."
"EATOF 17 is the premise for the East Asia Inter-Regional Forum to continue to develop and contribute more to the common goals of countries in the region,” said Mr. Van.
