(VOVworld) – At least 18 people died when their boat sank off the Turkish coast en route to Greece. Turkish media said the victims are Syrians who began crossing the Aegean Sea on two boats from Didim, Syria.

Reports said 15 people were rescued by the Turkish coast guards but many are still missing. Corpses and injured people were returned to Didim. Rescue work continues. Meanwhile, a special conference is scheduled to take place on Monday in Brussels, Belgium, between the EU and Turkey to seek an agreement that will halt the flow of migrants.
