The program which involved 200 artists performing 20 special performances was part of activities to mark the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the founders of the Vietnamese nation, on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, which falls on Wednesday this year.
Nguyen Dac Thuy, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province, said the program aims to serve the cultural and spiritual needs of the local people and tourists and is an opportunity to promote the heritages of the ancestral land, especially the worship of Hung Kings and Xoan singing, which have been recognized by UNSECO as intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Phu Tho province is dubbed as the ancestral land, where thousands of years ago the first Hung King founded Van Lang, the first recorded state in the history of Vietnam. Ruling the country for 18 generations, the Hung Kings taught the people how to grow wet rice to prosper.
