(VOVworld) - The Asia-Pacific Robocon Contest 2013 opened in Da Nang City on Sunday. Vietnam has chosen the theme “The Green Planet” for this year's event with the message: “Each nation is a piece of the puzzle that forms the world; the responsibility to protect the earth thus lies on the shoulder of each person living on it”.

The contest, co-organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and Vietnam Television (VTV) has seen the participation of 19 teams from 18 countries and territories. The two teams from Lac Hong University represent Vietnam to compete at this year’s competition. Pham Viet Tien, VTV’s Deputy Director General and Chairman of this year’s event, says: “Through this year’s theme, Vietnam wants to convey a message of responsibility and actions for a green environment of the new intelligentsia. We hope that you will have a chance to explore and enjoy an environment of ecological diversity, natural beauties and the teams’ energetic efforts. All these make the ABU Robocon 2013 a success.”
