(VOVworld) – The 2016 Hue festival, themed “the 710th anniversary of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan – Thua Thien Hue, Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development”, will open coinciding with Reunification Day on April 30.
The 6-day festival will feature artistic performances from 20 participating countries as well as the city of Hue.
The highlight of the festival will be the opening night ceremony which will celebrate 710 years since the founding of Thuan Hoa-Phu Xuan (now Thua Thien-Hue Province).
A wide variety of traditional Vietnamese activities including a calligraphy exhibition, kite flying, and human chess playing will be organized. Re-creation of special events will be carried out, such as the occasion of Nguyen Hue’s enthronement and the Nguyen Dynasty’s Doctorial examinations, and performances of dance and fireworks will be included.
