(VOVworld) - The 2nd annual national press festival began in Hanoi on Friday to honor the Vietnamese press. The event was jointly organized by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Finance, and the Hanoi People’s Committee.

2017 National Press Festival opens

The event will run until March 19 under the theme “Vietnamese press accompanies national renovation”. It attracted 470 media agencies nationwide. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam was speaking in the opening ceremony: “Journalists are pioneers in the cultural and ideological front. Besides their firm political stance, they should have broad understanding about life and society. They are at the forefront in the fight against misconducts and corruption to serve national interests.”
