(VOVWORLD) - More than 85,000 blood units were collected in the 2019 Red Journey, an annual trans-national blood donation drive held by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

This year’s event, the largest of its kind in the past seven years, concluded in Hanoi on Saturday after travelling to other 38 localities in 50 days.
Bach Quoc Khanh, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and head of the campaign’s organizing board, said: “We hope that all people in good health condition will donate their blood. Even when they just donate their blood once a year, we can collect millions of blood units, enough for treatment.”
The closing ceremony featured flashmob dance, art performances, and parades. The Red Journey has collected a total of 255,000 blood units in the past seven years.
