Cuong affirmed that strengthening parliamentary relations is one of the important pillars of the two countries' diplomacy, contributing to promoting the Vietnam-Chile bilateral relationship in general as well as establishing and implementing a favorable legal corridor between the two countries in particular. He expressed his support for the two legislatures to continue strengthen cooperation by increasing exchanges between their Parliamentary Friendship Groups as well as the exchange of delegations at all levels and promoting coordination at forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum.
President Cuong had a meeting with Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile Karol Cariola, who is also head of the Chile-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, in Santiago de Chile on Monday. Cuong highlighted legislative cooperation as a key pillar of the Vietnam - Chile diplomatic relations, which has helped to create a favorable legal framework between the two countries. He expressed his belief that their parliamentary friendship groups will play an important role in enhancing the legislative ties.
Cariola agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two legislatures in areas such as law building, supervision, and making decisions on key national issues. She pledged to maintain coordination at multilateral forums, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and other parliamentary organizations, and to support each other’s stances on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The same day, President Luong Cuong met with prominent business executives from the Promotion Society Fabril (SOFOFA) in Santiago de Chile. He called on Chilean investors to study and expand investment cooperation in various areas, including trade, renewable energy, agriculture, mining, and deep mineral processing while bolstering potential collaboration across such potential domains as high-tech agriculture, climate change response, digital transformation, and advanced technology.
“It is recommended that business associations, especially the Promotion Society Fabril, continue to coordinate closely with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, connect the business community and relevant agencies of the two sides, promote their role as an important bridge between businesses and international partners, helping to promote bilateral economic relations."
Vietnam is committed to creating a favorable environment for foreign businesses in general and Chile in particular, President Cuong said.
