(VOVWORLD) - The Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) expects 1,000 international observers from 95 countries to monitor Russia’s upcoming presidential election, CEC head Ella Pamfilova said on Wednesday.

Representatives of ombudsman offices from at least 20 countries are expected to come to the Russian presidential elections, she said, adding that the Commission will create favorable working conditions for the observers.
Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said invitations will be sent to parliaments in a number of friendly countries and to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The Russian presidential election will take place March 15-17.
