(VOVworld) – The 37^th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee was held on Wednesday in Hanoi to discuss the socio-economic situation as well as cooperation between the two countries.

The event was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Sub-Committee and Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavath. The two sides spoke highly of bilateral cooperation in agriculture and rural development, including the transfer of advanced rice production technology. The two leaders signed a cooperative agreement between Vietnam and Laos in 2015 and the memorandum of the 37^th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee. They witnessed the granting of a license to Laos’ Industrial joint stock company to explore minerals in the Laos provinces of Xieng Khoang and Hua Phan.
