400 tons of Tet goods transported to Truong Sa
(VOVworld) – 4 ships carrying Tet products for people and soldiers on the Truong Sa archipelago left Cam Ranh port in Khanh Hoa province on Tuesday. Lieutenant colonel Cao Van Son said logistics preparations were made many months before: “This year we will help soldiers on Truong Sa repaint their facilities to welcome Tet. We will give them approximately 225 trees to plant on the islands.”
The soldiers will also receive Banh chung or square sticky rice cakes, a traditional food for Vietnam’s lunar new year festival. Nguyen Viet Thuan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Truong Sa island district, said: “The people and soldiers on Truong Sa island are thankful for the thoughtfulness shown by Vietnamese people across the nation. We have received Tet gifts from many organizations and individuals, representing their love of the homeland.”
