In an interview with a Voice of Vietnam reporter based in the US, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of Vietnam's Permanent Mission to the UN said that at the beginning of its membership Vietnam only attended UN meetings, now Vietnam's presence at and contributions to the UN's mechanisms are becoming clearer and more effective, demonstrating a proactive and responsible Vietnam to the international community.

“Participating in UN mechanisms, Vietnam has promoted major resolutions and statements of the UN Security Council, General Assembly, the Human Rights Council and other organizations, which have received appreciation and support from the international community and other countries," he said. 

“Vietnam strictly delivers on its international commitments and always upholds compliance with and strict implementation of the UN Charter and international law. In addition, Vietnam promotes, builds and implements UN initiatives and we have achieved the millennium development goals ahead of schedule and are effectively realizing the sustainable development goals,” Giang added.
